Kyogetsu-Gama

About a 20 minute walk from Hirano Station in Fukushima, the newly set up Kiln Kyogetsu-gama is located.

After the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster, Kyoko Kondo had to evacuate her original place.

At her new place, she started to work again, setting up her kiln and showroom in a prefabricated shelter. Unlike a lot of other kilns, she was able to recover somehow and even hired a senior artisan with a lot of experience to help her out.

Her amazing work can be seen in our cups, hopefully not interrupted by further disasters.
